(وإلا) أي: وإن لم يكن الإمام قادرًا على قتالهم (أخَّره إلى الإمكان) أي: إلى القدرة عليه؛ لقوله تعالى:{لَا يُكَلِّفُ اللَّهُ نَفْسًا إلا وُسْعَهَا}.
