(وأفضله) أي التطوع (الجهاد) قال أحمد : لا أعلم شيئًا بعد الفرائض أفضل من الجهاد. ويأتي له مزيد إيضاح في كتاب الجهاد. (ثم توابعه) أي الجهاد (من نفقة وغيرها، فالنفقة فيه) أي الجهاد
