(فإن أقطع) الإمام أحدًا (أكثر منه) أي: مما يقدر على إحيائه (ثم تبين عجزه عن إحيائه، استرجعه) الإمام منه، كما استرجع عمر من بلال بن الحارثِ ما عجز عن عمارته من العقيق الذي أقطعه إياه الرسول - صلى الله عليه وسلم - .
